A Safe Place, Lake County’s sole provider of services exclusively focused on domestic violence victims and their children, will host the EmpoweRun 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 9am at Independence Grove in Libertyville.
The 5th Annual event brings together men, women, children, businesses, and partners to support the organization’s lifesaving services to victims and their children, assistance in transforming lives after domestic violence, preventing future abuse by addressing its root cause through abuser intervention programs, and education in the community about ending domestic violence.
By running as an individual or forming a team, local runners can help raise funds to help deliver life-saving shelter, counseling, and crisis support to our neighbors experiencing domestic violence.
Runners can fundraise from friends and family directly on the race website. There is also an option to register as an “Invisible Runner” for those who would like to sleep in on Saturday morning, or will not be able to attend the event on May 6.
Pre-registration for the 5K run/walk is $35, $45 the day of the event. Children under 5 are $15, $25 the day of the event. In celebration of our 5th anniversary, all participants can get $5 off registration on the race website through March 5 with the code FIVEYR0531. All runners will receive a t-shirt and goody bag. Winners in each race and age group will be recognized as part of an awards ceremony at the end of the race.
