Speaker: Carrie Williams, Executive Director
Illinois PGA Section & Illinois PGA Foundation
Carrie Williams is the Executive Director of the Illinois PGA Section and the Illinois PGA Foundation. The PGA of America is divided up into 41 geographical areas and each Section conducts playing opportunities for PGA members, apprentices, and amateur golfers, while providing support for its local golf professionals. The Illinois Section includes nearly 800 members working at more than 300 golf facilities throughout Chicagoland, Northern Illinois and Central Illinois. The Section operates 70 tournaments for its members and apprentices including the Illinois Open, the state championship of golf.
The mission of the Illinois PGA Section is to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to its member golf professionals in the area of competition, employment and education. The Illinois PGA Section also empowers its members to be the leaders and recognized experts in the game and business of golf. The Section works in cooperation with the PGA of America as well as its allied associations such as the CDGA, WGA, IJGA and GCSAA to promote and grow the game of golf, enhance the skill sets of our professionals and enhance our Association?s philanthropic outreach initiatives through the Illinois PGA Foundation.
Williams has been involved in the management and promotion of golf in Chicago for nearly 20 years. Prior to becoming Executive Director of the Illinois PGA in 2015, she was Executive Director of the IJGA for seven years. And, prior to that, she was with the Illinois PGA as both Tournament Director and then Assistant Executive Director.
Williams was raised in Cincinnati where she grew up playing golf and working at local golf clubs and courses. Early on, she developed a passion for the game, especially tournament operations. She is one of four female Section executive directors in the PGA of America system.
Williams earned a Bachelor?s Degree in English from Miami of Ohio and her Master?s Degree in Sports Management from Indiana University. She lives in Northbrook with her husband and two children.
