Hologram Zoo Illinois is an immersive, family-friendly hologram attraction opening inside
Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills, IL. This first-of-its-kind venue combines cutting-edge
holographic projection, cinema-style storytelling, and interactive guest experiences in a
compact, high-impact space designed for kids, families, and groups.
The Opportunity
Hologram Zoo Illinois is seeking an entrepreneurial Site Manager to our Hawthorn Mall
location (318 Hawthorn Center, Vernon Hills, IL 60061). This is a hands-on, on-site role for a
manager who loves operations, lives for great guest experiences, and is excited to work
around innovative technology in a fast-paced attraction environment. You will have full P&L
accountability, lead a small team of 2–3 floor sta􀆯, and own the success of the venue from
opening through growth.

 Job Type: Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)
 Reports To: Owner
 Target Start: Prior to/around venue opening (flexible based on candidate
availability)
Compensation & Benefits
 Base Salary: $55,000
 Performance Bonus: Up to 20% of base salary (target total compensation:
$66,000), paid quarterly and tied to clear KPIs, including revenue growth,
operational uptime, cost control, and customer satisfaction.
 Benefits: Paid Time O􀆯 (PTO).
 Other: No relocation assistance; reliable daily commute to Vernon Hills required.

What You’ll Do
Operations & Technical Oversight (Performance)
 Act as the system custodian for all daily operations, ensuring hologram projectors,
A/V, lighting, and POS systems are show-ready and functioning at a high standard
every day.
 Serve as the Tier 1 troubleshooter for basic technical issues, escalating to vendors
or ownership when needed.
 Coordinate and manage all preventative and corrective maintenance with external
technology partners to achieve a target of 99.5% operational uptime.
 Oversee facility management, including cleanliness, safety, and visual
presentation of the venue, maintaining strict compliance with Vernon Hills health,
safety, and fire codes.
 Manage inventory for retail merchandise, ticketing supplies, and general
consumables, optimizing purchasing to control costs and avoid stockouts.
Revenue Generation & Financial Accountability (Profitability)
 Own the P&L for the site, managing labor scheduling, controllable expenses, and
margin-focused decision-making to meet or exceed profitability goals.
 Drive group sales by actively marketing, booking, and executing birthday parties,
private events, school field trips, camps, youth groups, and corporate bookings.
 Build and analyze daily and weekly sales, tra􀆯ic, and Revenue Per Visitor
(RPV) reports using POS and spreadsheet tools, then quickly implement actions to
grow revenue and improve conversion.
 Partner with ownership on local marketing initiatives, cross-promotions within the
mall, and community outreach to schools, clubs, and businesses.
 Assist with Social Media marketing – Instagram, Facebook, Tik-Tok etc.
Team Leadership & Guest Experience (People)
 Lead the full employee lifecycle for a team of approximately 2–3 floor sta􀆯, including
recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance
reviews.
 Create weekly schedules that balance labor e􀆯iciency with excellent coverage
during peak hours, weekends, and holidays.

 Maintain a customer-obsessed culture where every guest receives a warm
welcome, clear technical briefing, and memorable experience.
 Personally handle escalated guest issues with professionalism and empathy,
turning problems into positive outcomes whenever possible.
 Proactively manage and respond to online reviews (e.g., Google, Yelp, social
platforms) to help the venue achieve and maintain 4.7+ star ratings.
 Develop and deliver training on guest safety, show flow, emergency procedures, and
high-impact visitor engagement.
Schedule & Work Environment
 This is an on-site role based at Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills, IL.
 Typical schedule is full-time, 5 days per week, including at least one weekend
day and peak holidays aligned with family entertainment demand.
 Role involves extended periods of standing and walking on the floor, operating
equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to approximately 25–30 lbs).
 Flexibility is required for evenings, weekends, holidays, special events, and group
bookings.
Qualifications
 Minimum 3 years of progressive management experience in a fast-paced
environment such as family entertainment, attractions, specialty retail, museum,
theater, hospitality, or similar.
 Demonstrated experience owning or significantly influencing a P&L, including labor
management, cost control, and revenue growth.
 Experience with technology and/or A/V equipment operations and basic
troubleshooting is highly desirable; comfort learning new systems is essential.
 Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a small team, including scheduling,
coaching, and accountability.
 Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence interacting
with guests, mall partners, schools, and corporate clients.
 Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to juggle operations, guest
needs, and sales activities during busy periods.
