The state of Illinois launched the Opioid Alternative Pilot Program on 1-31-19. This is a program for individuals, along with their physician to obtain cannabis, in order to reduce the usage of opioids.

Physicians must register @ etk.icts.illinois.gov - they will register themselves and the patient and then the process can be completed.
The patient receives access to a  provisional letter that allows them to purchase cannabis for 90 days. After 90 days, they will need to go back to their physician and re-apply. The cost is $10 every 90 days for the cannabis card.
