Our "podcast club" listens to business podcasts relevant to all business professionals. A podcast is a digital audio broadcast that can be listened to on the Internet. The podcast is a convenient way to get the gist of the topic even while engaged in other activities.
The business podcasts selected will have transcripts, so that if people want to read, they will be able to.
Here is the first one:

This is an interview with the founder of Mailchimp.
There are two "big ideas" -- first, venture capital versus bootstrapping in funding your business; and second the origin of Mailchimp and how it got started, what its vision for itself was, the choices it made in growing to a $600 million company.
The most interesting point was that Mailchimp's founder grew up in a home where his mother ran her own business -- a hair salon. And when Mailchimp finally grew large enough to attract VC firms, he rejected them and their funding $$$. His reason was that they didn't understand his business model. They wanted to serve enterprise level operations or cash out in an IPO; whereas the founder wanted to help businesses like his mom's hair salon -- he had his own vision and stuck with it. That led him to his own unique success.
This podcast would allow us to discuss each participant's own "origin story" for their business, the vision they had for it, difficult choices they made, etc.
“I wanted to build something that would empower small businesses.”
