Great Lakes Credit Union through its 501 (c)(3) philanthropic arm, GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment, offers free financial education and counseling to the community. This is the U.S. federally approved Housing and Urban Development grant funded program that is only offered by five credit unions in the country and the only one offered via a credit union foundation. What the presentation will cover is how this program will be able to support community members through its individualized coaching process and the support that is given. During the presentation strategies would be shared to provide an example of a saving strategy, how to improve credit, and the importance of homeownership as a generational wealth building tool.
