On Thursday, September 20, 2018, the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary will host over 250 guests for the 27th Annual Rector’s Classic Golf and Dinner event. This major fundraising event supports the gap in funding for seminarian education and the formation of parish priests. Registration is open. The Very Reverend John Kartje, President/Rector of Mundelein Seminary will bless golfers as they tee off at the historic Pine Meadow Golf Club. Registration begins at 10:30a.m. The shotgun start for the scramble format is at noon. Golfers will enjoy V.I.P. treatment from the seminarians who staff the event as well as lunch and a $100 gift from TaylorMade. Golf contests include a “Beat the Seminarian” round. Reception and dinner follow beginning at 6p.m. on the USML/Mundelein Seminary campus. At this year's event, Father Robert Heinz of St. Norbert – Our Lady of the Brook in Northbrook will be honored with the 2018 Joseph Cardinal Bernardin "In Service of One Another" Catholic Humanitarian Award. A silent auction and raffle will available. A guided tour of the stunning grounds is also an option. For those not golfing, the dinner portion can be purchased on its own. Ticket packages for the day range from $50 for Young Professionals and up for full day options or foursomes. The University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary prepares candidates for the parish priesthood for the Archdiocese of Chicago as well as over 35 other dioceses and provides initial, post-graduate or ongoing formation for priests and those who collaborate with them in ministry.
